Ski and Snowboard Among the Spectacular Maroon Bells
The resort of Aspen Highlands is one of four ski resorts near the town of Aspen is a favorite of local skiers and snowboarders. It has an elevation of 8,040 ft. at its base and a summit of 11,675 ft. If you hike the 12,392 ft. to the top of the Highlands Bowl, you can enjoy the best of back country snow while still being inbounds.
The Resort has 118 trail with a total length of 84 miles. The terrain is great for both beginning and intermediate skiers. In addition, there are five lifts; three high-speed quads and two triple lifts. There is also the Deep Temerity lift which will take you to a new area of 237 skiable acres. The Highlands is great for families because it has many activities for kids and their parents to do together.
There are also two restaurants located at the resort, Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro and Merry-Go-Round.
At The Highlands, you will find snowmobile tours, ice skating and storytelling around the fire. There is cross-country skiing, a public NASTAR course on Nugget Trail, alpine skiing and snowboarding, nature tours and naturalist-guided snowshoe tours.
Another great choice at this ski resort is to take a powder tour where you will ride a snowcat to the backside of Aspen Mountain to ski and snowboard some of the finest powder in the Rocky Mountains. They even throw in a gourmet lunch!
In the summer, you will be able to take rides on the Silver Queen Gondola, try mountain boarding, listen to live outdoor music, play disc golf and take nature walks. And of course, don’t forget to check out the many golf courses in the area.
